Annie Lona Wise

Lona was Born May 17, 1924 in Cadet (near Big Stone Gap), Virginia to Simon Oscar & Bertha Vanilla Collinsworth Arnold & Passed away May 12, 2025 (just 5 days before her 101 birthday) at the Northern Neck Senior Care Community Center in Warsaw, Virginia. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert L Jones, her second husband John F Wise, her first born son Robert Lee Jones Jr & her great grandson James Lawrence Palumbo. She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters & 4 brothers Betty Arnold Anderson, Pauletta Arnold Wolfrey, Edward Arnold, Ralph Arnold, Barney Arnold, and Harold Arnold.

Her family moved from Tennessee to southwest Virginia where her father worked in the coal mines. The family moved to Orange County, Virginia when she was around 16 to work on a farm. 

She is survived by three sons Jack Way (Mary Ann) Jones of Oldtown Idaho, John O (Pat) Jones of Tappahannock Virginia, and Steve R (Gleta) Jones of Newtown Virginia; eight Grandchildren, Jacqueline K Palumbo (Jim), Newman Lake, Idaho, Robin Malsbury (Brady), Oldtown, Idaho, Benny Jones (Jennifer) Aylett, Virginia, Clinton Jones (Marisa), Lynchburg, Virginia, Jonathan Jones (Mandy), Newtown, Virginia, David Jones (Huong), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Adrian Jones (Leanne); 20 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren & expecting another in July. 

Lona was a great homemaker and loved her boys and grandchildren with all her heart. But most of all the love for her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ was most important to her. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Culpeper for many years until she moved to Tappahannock to be closer to her sons, where she attended the Tappahannock Assembly of God. Most recently she began attending the Church of God in Warsaw, VA. She was known as a very faithful member of her church, a prayer warrior, and as a very hard worker. Lona was a homemaker for many years until she began house cleaning for people in their homes. It was said that she cleaned their homes like she would her own.

Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday May 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, 206 North Church Lane Tappahannock VA 22560. The family will recieve friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Culpeper National Cemetery 305 US Avenue in Culpeper, Virginia at a later date.
