Bobby Ingram Hudgins passed away at his home on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 90. Preceded in death by his parents, Warner Maxwell and Clara Hudgins, and by his brother, Maxwell, Jr. Bobby was born in Susan, having lived in Mathews County for nearly 91 years. He attended Mathews High School and then the Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding, having played sports at both. He shared that love of sports when he volunteered to coach his sons’ Little League baseball teams. Bobby was a member of the Air Force Reserve and was called to active duty in the early 1960s, working as an airplane mechanic on the flight line. He also worked at Newport News Shipyard as a machinist. He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding for 46 years, retiring as a Lead Craft Instructor, where he touched many lives. Bobby was a longstanding member of Central United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was also an elder member of Oriental Lodge No. 20 AF & AM. in Mathews.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Phyllis Callis Hudgins, and his four children; Robert (Heather), Troy (Jenny), Marie (Craig), and Joy (Brian). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Chase (Lauren), Austin (Amanda), Emma (Brady), Ashley, Trenton, Abbie (Braden), Joshua, Ethan, Shane, and Marshall. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; Tyler Lane, Josie, and Walker Ann.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews with a funeral service at Noon. Interment will follow in H. C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia.
