Charles "Charlie" F. Davis, Sr.

Charles Franklin Davis Sr. (Charlie), 86, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and he worked for over 30 years with Essex County School System as the lead mechanic and school bus maintenance supervisor. He also preached for over 30 years in nursing home ministries in Essex, Richmond, and Hanover counties. He took care of family, friends, neighbors, widows, strangers, and anyone in need. 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace and Paul Davis; and his parents, William and Virginia Davis. 

He is survived by his wife, Paula Davis; daughter, Sherry Bernstein (Steve); son, Chuck Davis (Charlotte); grandchildren, Brian Bernstein, Chaz Davis, Chelsea Davis, Morgan Bernstein; great-grandchildren, Lilly Davis and Matthew Bernstein; sister, Edna Lingg (Jim); brothers, Mickey Davis and Reid Davis (Theresa); and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13th, 2026 from 1-2:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, Virginia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Essex Cemetery, Tappahannock, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, (www.stjude.org)
