David Earl Tulip passed away unexpectedly at home on March 31, 2024. He was 86. He recently had been diagnosed with chronic leukemia.
He was born May 23, 1937, in Wheatland, PA, the son of Herbert E. Tulip and Elizabeth Gancsos Tulip. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard Tulip and Joyce McManis. He is survived by his wife, Gloria B. Tulip and aunt, Pearl Tulip Martin.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Thomas Tulip and survived by their daughter Tauvas Johnson, (Michael) and grandchildren Brandon, Shelby and James; son Joshua Tulip, (Hillarey) and grandchildren Justin and Madison.
David is also survived by two step-children, Lee Linton (Carla) and Karen Ford (Dennis) and step-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Athena Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
David was educated in a one room building, grades 1-6, after walking to get there. He attended California University of Pennsylvania. David served in the US Army for 3 years. He retired from the federal government after a 30-year career with the Commerce Department. He had a love for birds and spent many hours wood carving their likeness. When he wasn’t in his favorite spot, the kitchen, whipping up a delicious meal or baking a loaf of bread, you could find him reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine.
David loved his cats, especially Pewter, which recently died. If you wish to remember David by giving to a charity, the local Animal Care Society, P.O. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, with a time for sharing memories for David beginning at 6:30 pm.
