Donald Allen

Donald (Don) H. Allen was born March 15, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, to Horace and Ann Allen. Don passed away June 22, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 93. Don attended school in Corning, New York, and joined the United States Air Force on his 18th birthday and served until February, 1949. While stationed at Fort Worth, Texas he met and married Helen. Into this marriage, two children were added, a son, Jonathan Dean, and daughter, Jennifer Dru. After being discharged from the Air Force, Don and Helen moved to the family dairy farm in Corning, New York. They later relocated to Freeport, Texas. Don was affiliated with Carnation Fresh Milk Division of Houston, Texas, until 1957. At this time Don and family moved to Savona, New York to take management of the Allen Dairy and Milk delivery business for 18 years. Don and Helen later divorced. Don then moved to Tappahannock, Virginia. There he met and married Carolyn Juanita Thompson. He worked with the McDonald‘s management team until retirement. He later moved to the Texas - Oklahoma area to be close to his son, daughter, and grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Juanita; step-son Wayne Thompson; sister Millicent Curtis; brothers, Jack Allen, Gilbert Allen, Emery Allen, and Richard Allen. Don is survived by son, Jonathan Allen, Norman, Oklahoma, daughter, Jennifer Alexander; brother, Edward Allen; sisters, Marion Seeley, Barbara Lacy, Carol Smith, Judith Kilroy, Sue Glass, Charlotte Swarthout, Audrey Northrup, Diana Ketchum; stepdaughter- in-law, Billie Ann Thompson; 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 2 great-grandsons, 1 great- granddaughter, 2 step- granddaughters, , 4 step-great grandchildren. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends made over the years. He was much loved.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Essex Cemetery.
