Edward Brown

January 27, 1928 — July 20, 2023

On July 20, 2023, J. Edward Brown peacefully joined his bride. He was born in Flint, Michigan on January 27, 1928, to Nelson Franklin and Martha Amos Brown. While in the Navy, stationed in Norfolk, he met the love of his life. He loved photography, playing his banjo, woodworking, and ballroom dancing. A surveyor and civil engineer by trade, he designed subdivisions in many states and several in Virginia Beach before returning to Newport News to work and retired from the city of Newport News.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Marjorie June Dameron, and his son, Robert Wayne Brown (Susan).

He is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Karen Sale (Bill), Cheryl Willis and daughter-in-law, Susan Adams Brown; seven grandchildren, William Edward Sale (Kristina), Robert Linwood Sale, Janice Sale Havron (Shawn), Amanda Brown Gregg (James), Kenneth Wayne Brown (Crystal) Anthony Layne Brownand James Gregory Willis (Kristen); 13 great grandchildren, Kara Nichole Wertman, Amanda Elizabeth Goin,

William Kyle Wertman, Ashley Jennette Hrbacek (Bryan), Jeffrey Scott Sale (Amanda), Angelia Brittany Dawson (Mathew), Ryann Danielle Robinson, Colin Miller, Allison Nicole Sale, Alexandria Brown Screws (Christian), Gabriella Brown, Sebastian, and Gabriel Bromley and two great great granddaughters, Skylar and Julie.

He will be truly missed by family and many special friends.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery, Urbanna. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda.
