On Monday January 19, 2026, Elias Jimmie “Jimmy” Bristow passed away after a brief illness at St. Francis Hospital, Midlothian, VA. He was born on May 13, 1945, to the late Ernest Latin and Mary Frances Bew Bristow in Sweet Hall, King William County, VA.
He made his home in Middlesex County with Beverly Boarman Bristow, his wife of 43 years who is left to cherish his memories along with their children and grandchildren whom he loved a cherished. Amy James Foley (James), Mary-Rachael Miller (Adam), and Thomas Neal “Tommy” Bristow (Brittany Croxton), Owen Riley Miller, Greyson Judd Miller, Kaylie Fay Bristow, Harper Elias Bristow, and Kathryn James Foley. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Mammie Leslie Iannaggi (Thomas), Mary Virginia Webb; his brother, Jessie George Rainier; his sisters-in-law, Janet Anderson (Chris), Barbara Green, Joyce Burton, Brenda Boarman (Ron Spivey); his mother-in-law, Peggy Boarman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the following siblings: Mary Francis Bew, Archie Linwood Rainier, Jr, Emily “Tina” Brooks, Sarah Brooks, Brenda Philbates, Ethel Mullins and Marie Coleman.
Jimmy was a faithful member of the Lord’s church, Gloucester Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He was a disabled, Vietnam, Purple Heart veteran. He was also a life member of VFW Post 8046, Norge, DAV Anthony Wayne Post 58, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the American Legion. He was a custom home builder with Peyton Hall Construction and J&B Bristow & Son for over 50 years. He loved fishing and camping with his family and spending time with his precious grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. at the Gloucester Church of Christ, 2432 Hayes Rd Gloucester, VA. A reception will follow the service. Flowers and remembrances may be sent to Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, 15 C.F. Lane, Saluda, VA 23149.
