Elizabeth Broudy Marshall, 75, of Mathews and Hampton, VA.

Our Liza passed away at home Sunday, July 23, 2023, after a 12year battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Harold Broudy and Jane Sunderland Broudy.

During Liza’s youth, her father’s long military career imbued the love for travel and fueled her love of learning. Throughout her lifetime she lived in many places stateside and abroad but always maintained a connection to Hampton Va. After graduating from high school in Arkansas, she attended Rice University for her undergraduate studies and went on to complete master’s degrees from Michigan, Kansas, and Yale Universities, among other institutions, learning experiences and degrees. Her education centered primarily in architecture, design and restoration. Her most enjoyed professional projects included work for The Mariner’s Museum, Hampton University Museum and the Casemate Museum at Fort Monroe. She was a huge lover of the Chesapeake Bay. Not only did she enjoy her life on its waters, but she also worked effectively towards its conservation and preservation.

She is survived by her childhood friend and husband Richard Marshall, Jr. of Mathews, Va.; Elisabeth Marshall, Richard Marshall III, his wife Summer; two grandchildren; many cousins near and far and very special lifelong friends. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Riverside-Walter Reed Hospice in Gloucester, VA and to her personal caregivers Carolyn Bruffy, Carolyn Ortiz and Gina Rowe.

No service is planned at this time. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia is assisting the family.
