Evelyn Morris Dickerson, 85, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2025. Born on July 4, 1940, in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bagby Morris and Georgie Luneale Morris. She spent her summers in Church View, VA, where she met her childhood sweetheart and lifelong love, the late Robert “Bobby” Dickerson. Together again, they now rest in the sweet arms of Jesus.
Evelyn graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959 and went on to study home economics at James Madison College. She married Bobby on November 22, 1961, and they settled in West Point, VA, where they welcomed their four daughters into the world. In 1973, they returned to Middlesex County, where Evelyn dedicated herself to raising her girls. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith, Evelyn was active in her church and numerous prayer groups and played the piano and organ during worship. She spent much of her early years working in various jobs before becoming a full-time homemaker after the birth of her oldest daughter. Later, she worked alongside her family at The Green Front Grocery and Deli in Urbanna, a place where she touched many lives in her community.
Evelyn and Bobby also shared a special bond with their beloved dog, Skipper, who was playfully referred to as their “favorite” child. Skipper’s joyful presence was a constant source of comfort and love in their home.
Evelyn’s legacy lives on through her daughters, Edith Atkinson (T.C.), Susan Fellin (Shawn), Rita Taylor (Todd), and Angel Brown (Chris); 12 beloved grandchildren: Taylor Fisher, Caroline Fisher, Steven Atkinson, Sarah Atkinson, Shawn Robert Fellin (Nargis), Scott Fellin, Sarah Fellin, Rachel Taylor, Gabby Taylor, Ashby Taylor, Megan Burnett (Josh), and Mercede Mason (Wyatt); and 4 great-grandchildren: Bailey and Adalynn Burnett, Parker Mason and Naveed Martin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Reed Hodges, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evelyn’s life was one marked by love, service, and faith, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now at peace, reunited with Bobby and surrounded by the love of Christ.
The family will receive family and friends from 1 pm – 2 pm and a funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Faulkner Funeral Home, Bristow Faulker Chapel, Saluda. Graveside immediately following at Forest Chapel Church in Warner, VA.
