James Armistead Ransone

November 16, 1946 — December 30, 2025

James Armistead Ransone, 79, died peacefully on December 30, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Saunders (Pat) and Mary Stuart Ransone and his brother, Edward Saunders Ransone, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Carter Ransone Edwards (Travers), brother, John Glennmore Ransone, (Ann), extended family and numerous friends. During his tour of duty in the Army, he served one year in Vietnam. He worked for the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services until his retirement in 2005.

He was a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge 102, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Richmond chapter and the ACCA Shriners. He served as Chairman of the King and Queen County Electoral Board from March 2013 through November 2022. He was very proud of this position and worked hard at his job.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond for their support and excellent care while he was a resident.

Visitation will be held at Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock, VA on Thursday, February 26 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The Memorial Service will be held in the Marks-Bristow Chapel on Friday, February 27 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 287 Ephesus Church Road, Dunnsville, VA 22454.
