James Gary Peach, 80, died at his home in Hartfield, on Nov. 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lanice and three daughters: Katherine Peach, and Susan Sayyad of Hartfield, and Kelly Lowther (Rick) of Gloucester. Six grandsons: Jimmy and Joey Sayyad and Jackson, Garrison, Carson and Bryson Lowther. Jim retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Col after 29 years of service. He was a combat veteran of 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam and holds the Bronze Star for Valor. After retirement he was employed in the hotel industry in Williamsburg, VA until his retirement. He has been a resident of Hartfield, VA since1993. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge #45 in Pittsburgh, PA, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Deltaville, VA, Scottish Rite in Pittsburgh, PA and Khedive Shrine in Chesapeake, VA. He was a life member of the American Legion and past commander of the post in Saluda, VA. He was a charter member of the Middlesex Master Gardeners and served for many years as treasurer of that organization. He served his community as an EMT with the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad for several years and with Hands Across Middlesex building ramps for the handicapped. He was a member of Lower United Methodist Church and sung in the choir for many years. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 4, 2015 at 11 AM at Lower United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers a donation to Lower United Methodist Church or your favorite charity is appreciated.
