Mr. John E. Major, passed away peacefully at his home on April 30, 2024 with his family by his side. 

Mr. Major was a graduate of West Point High School and the University of Richmond. After graduating from college, John moved back to “The Lodge” at Stormont. During his working career, Mr. Major was an inspector for VDOT and worked for MEGA Construction.  In the early 80’s he decided to form his own construction company Middle Peninsula Construction Inc.  John enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and driving his Kubota to the Dragon every day. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and loved watching the Washington Nationals play ball.

Mr. Major is survived by his sisters, Jennifer M. Lucas, Jane M. Throckmorton and Rebecca M. Robbins; nephews, Michael and Mark Lucas, Chris Throckmorton and Brian Robbins; niece, Melanie Wood; great nieces, Ashley, Lara, Kendall, Victoria and Elizabeth; great nephew, Austin; great great nieces, Caroline, Emma and Madison; Beloved Yorkie, Max and numerous cousins, friends and acquaintances.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clarence and Beatrice Major; and beloved step-mother, Lillian F. Major.

A family graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 at The Major Cemetery at Wortham Hill with Ronnie Russell officiating. 

The family invites friends for a gathering at John’s home “The Lodge” on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., 667 Old Courthouse Road, Saluda, Va 23149.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial tributes be made to Middlesex Pet Friends for Life, P.O. Box 145 Saluda, Va 23149 and Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 71, Urbanna, Va 23149.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, VA is assisting the family.
