Kavan Whitaker Snow

Kavan Whitaker Snow, better known as Kay, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, to be with her family and friends that have gone before her.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, James Archibald Whitaker and Dorothy Mae Thomas. She is also preceded in death by her beloved brother, James Allen Whitaker. Leaving her way too soon, her husband, Robert Franklin Snow, III, whom she loved dearly passed away in 2018 after being married for almost 43 years.

She is survived by her twin brother, Dan Whitaker (Gina), her sister-in-law, Carol Whitaker and three nephews, Brent, Allen and Devin Whitaker; her loving sister-in-law, Sylvia Snow , who has always been there for her; her husband’s son, Bobby Snow and his two boys, Joshua and Zachary; friends, Barbara Langston, Gail Parker, Kim Dubeau and her son Jacob; and Annie and Sam, her treasured four-legged babies that she cherished dearly.

Kay started her career in the banking industry in 1966 at United Virginia Bank (Citizens & Marine Bank). She had many positions from teller to Assistant Manager and was in charge of the student loan program. She left there in 1987 to take an Assistant Manager position at Dominion Bank (First Union) and she was promoted to Manager and Senior Vice President of the Hayes office in Gloucester. In 1997, she accepted the Manager position at the new Deltaville branch of Southside Bank where she stayed until 2002 when she retired. After 36 years in retail banking, she was approached by Robert Fleet to join him in the mortgage business. She worked with him off and on for the next seventeen years.

Kay was loving, funny and caring. She loved to cook and every holiday she would have all the family at her house. Everyone looked forward to going to Aunt Kays because they knew the food would be delicious. She also liked to read, watch tv and enjoyed swimming in her pool.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
