Kenneth Randall Rogers

July 9, 1953 — July 4, 2025

Kenneth “Ken” Rogers was a bright light in this world—a man whose kindness, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Surrounded by his family, he passed away on July 4, 2025, days before his 72nd birthday.

Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, and resident of Urbanna, Virginia, Ken was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, dedicated UVA fan, loyal friend, and cherished “baby” brother. His love for his family, especially his grandchildren, was the heartbeat of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rogers; his mother, Dorothy Lucille Hale; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Simmons and Roger Walls. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 49 years, Victoria “Vicky” Rogers. A father whose love knew no bounds to the apple of his eye, Amanda “Mandy” Hearnsberger (Cory, the Texan), the rose between two thorns, Matthew “Matt” Rogers, and God’s best surprise, Laura Hancock (Travis, the Hokie). He was the adoring “Grampy” to Campbell, Quinn, Leah, and Jonah. He leaves behind his brother, Robert Rogers (Lee), and sisters Suzy Simmons, Dianne Walls, Donna Beasley.

Ken’s lifelong dedication to others began with his service in the United States Air Force and continued through his role as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Manager for Bay Aging. For nearly 50 years, he poured his heart into the community by investing time in the Middlesex Youth Basketball League and as the enthusiastic announcer at Middlesex High School sporting events. Ken also gave generously through Meals on Wheels, where he didn’t just deliver meals—he built lasting relationships, ensuring everyone he met felt seen, heard, and valued.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, Virginia. Light refreshments will follow at Remlik Wesleyan Church.

The 4th of July is no longer just America’s Independence Day—it now marks the day of freedom from the burdens of this life and the beginning of peace for a remarkable man.
