Mary J Lynch Futchko passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loves ones, on 03/23/2026.
Mary was the daughter of the late James and Marie (nee Carlin), born on May 31,1951 and was raised in Upper Darby, PA. Her two older brothers, Tom and Jimmy preceded her in death. She attended St. Laurence Parish School, Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, PA. She graduated from West Chester State University with a degree in Education.
Her entire teaching career was spent as an educator in Essex County, VA for 33 years. She was an active charter member of Virginia Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Sorority of Women Educators for 34 years.
Mary enjoyed many summers in OBX with her beach gang and trips to the Jersey Shore with family. She was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charlie, of 47 years; son Travis (Jess) and Granddaughter, Charly; as well as many of the Futchko, Lynch, and Carlin families. Her youngest son, Jeremy, preceded her in death.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 413 St. Timothy Ln., Tappahannock, Virginia, 22560 on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 11am. The family will receive friends at the church from 9-11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Do What You Love To End Alz Forget–Me–Nots event.
