Richard Ronald Saro

July 6, 1940 — May 31, 2026

Born on July 6, 1940, Richard (Richie) lived a life defined by qualities such as hard work, service, dedication and a love of his family.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public service through a distinguished career in federal public service, where he managed teams of computer programmers and systems analysts. He was respected for his leadership, professionalism, and the guidance he provided to those who worked alongside him.

Outside of his career, Richie found great joy spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also had a special love for his dogs and was quite the gardener back in his glory days.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brandi Anne Saro.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Anne Saro; children; Deborah (Mike) Savoy of Virginia Beach, Richard Ronald Saro, Jr. of Deltaville and Sharyn (Clark) Quick of Prince George, Virginia; grandchildren, Kevin Walsh of Colonial Heights and Amber Leigh Anne Saro of Deltaville; sisters, Geraldine Saro of Brooklyn and Susan Jackson of Pennsylvania.

The family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Middlesex Fire Department, P.O. 440, Deltaville, VA 23043 or Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98, Deltaville, VA 23043.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, is assisting the family.
