Ronald Ray Geiger, a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 25, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 14, 1942, in Spokane, Washington, Ron was known for his integrity, thoughtfulness, and dedication to his family and community. A deliberate and industrious man, he generously gave his time and energy to those around him.
Ron graduated from Highline High School in Seattle, WA, in 1960, then earned a degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, in 1965. He continued his education at the University of Virginia’s Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business, completing The Executive Program in 1980.
Ron had a rich and varied professional life, starting with his family construction company, Geiger Construction. After graduation from college, he owned and operated one of Seattle’s top rock and roll booking agencies before taking an executive position with Boeing Computer Services which brought him to Virginia in 1975. Following Boeing he served in an executive position at DynCorp, a defense contractor in Tysons Corner, VA.
In 1994, Ron embarked on a new career path as a registered investment advisor representative with Lara, Shull & May. In 2010, he founded his own registered investment advisor company, Ronald R. Geiger LLC. Throughout his life, Ron found joy in spending time with his family, enhancing his surroundings, and enjoying the tranquility of life on the river.
Dedicated to his communities, Ron actively contributed to several organizations, including the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra Board and its Foundation, Essex County Museum and Historical Society Board, and Tappahannock Rotary Club.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Penny Geiger; his sister, Darlene Geiger of Mesa, AZ; his daughters, Kristin Brown (Tom) of Alexandria, VA, and Paige Grace (Matt) of Wilmington, NC; and his three grandsons, Alex, Conor, and Kevin Brown. He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Lydia (Ahl) Geiger, and his sister, Verdella Sweigard.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 15th at 2:00 PM at Marks-Bristow Funeral Home in Tappahannock, VA. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5 to 7pm at Tappahannock Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Jacob’s Ladder (https://jladder.org/), a cause close to Ron’s heart, Tappahannock Rotary or Tappahannock Presbyterian Church.
