Sandra Godsey

Sandra Fitchette Godsey of Hampton passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 after a long, courageous battle with Covid. Born on October 29, 1945, she was raised on Gwynn’s Island. Sandra graduated from Mathews High School in 1963 where she was a member of multiple clubs. She went on to Smithdeal Massey Business College. Upon completion, she became a Clerk Stenographer for the U.S. Continental Army Command.

Sandra resided in Hampton Roads for 57 years where she has been a long-time member of Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, cooking, playing cards with friends, family game nights, giraffes, the beach and music (Elvis).

Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years James Godsey. And her parents George and Mary Parke Fitchette.

Sandra is survived by her children, James Jr (Laurie), Beth, and Tina; grandchildren Jacob, Nicole, Zachary, and Casey, And great grandchildren Elaine, Timothy, and Nova.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA, 23666. A reception will follow the service at the church. On Monday, September 11, 2023, the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, followed by a graveside service at Gwynn's Island Cemetery, Gwynn, Virginia. A reception will follow at Gwynn's Island Baptist Church.
