Teresa Lynn English

November 19, 1963 — August 24, 2025

Tappahannock

TERESA LYNN ENGLISH, affectionately known as “Tee Cee” and “Sunshine”, age 61, of Essex County, Virginia, entered in to eternal rest on the glorious Sunday afternoon of August 24, 2025, in Tappahannock, Virginia. She was the beloved daughter of Catherine Arlene English, and the late Grayson Tyler English, both of Essex County, Virginia.

Born on November 19, 1963, at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, Teresa Lynn English grew up surrounded by the beauty of “God’s Country” and the love of her family. Deeply devoted to her family and proud of her roots, she remained faithfully connected to her beloved hometown of Tappahannock throughout her life.

Teresa graduated from Essex High School in 1981, where she was known for her bright spirit and athletic ability. An accomplished athlete, she distinguished herself in both softball and volleyball. Her skill and determination on the court led to the honor of being selected to play in the County’s Volleyball League after high school.

In 1991, Teresa began her professional career at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, now known as Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health Tappahannock Hospital. Through her 34 years of loyalty, professionalism, and dedication, she quickly advanced to become the Supervisor of Patient Access. At work, she was admired for her radiant spirit and bright smile, which earned her the nickname “Sunshine.”

Crafting and cooking were true joys for Teresa. Her famous buffalo dip and deviled eggs were highly revered staples at family gatherings. A gifted cross-stitcher, she poured her heart into every piece, spending countless hours creating beautiful pieces that she delighted in sharing as heartfelt gifts. As a dedicated member of The Women of the Moose, Teresa generously shared her talents, donating hundreds of handmade creations to support fundraisers and charitable causes.

Teresa’s heart belonged to her family, and she found her greatest joy in the time they shared, especially with her beloved nieces. She treasured family traditions, particularly at Easter and Christmas time, and delighted in family gatherings at the beach. There, she found peace in gazing at the ocean, joy in watching the children play, and warmth in sharing stories on the porch. For Teresa, no beach trip was ever complete without a stop at the iconic Brew Thru convenient store.

Teresa is preceded in death by her loving father, Grayson Tyler English, and her dear brother, David Tyler English.

Carrying her legacy forward are her devoted mother, Catherine Arlene English; her brother, Kevin Dale English, and sister-in-law, Audie Ferebee English, both of Tappahannock, VA, her greatest treasures, Johanna Lynn English, Catherine Leigh English, Kinsley Dale English, and Graylin Louise English, who were the light of her life, and a host of loving aunts and uncles, cousins, and extended family, all of whom will continue to honor Teresa’s memory and the love she so freely gave.

Teresa’s life and legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her quick wit and lively sense of humor kept those around her smiling, and often on their toes. Never at a loss for words, Teresa had a gift for conversation and laughter that brightened every room she entered. Her light, her love, and her joy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 28th, 2025, at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, 206 N. Church Lane, Tappahannock, VA 22560.
