William Richard Hammond, 96, of Tappahannock, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023. He was a longtime member of Beale Memorial Baptist Church, and was a World War II veteran. William was also the Founder and Owner of Newtown Dragway.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Stone Duke Hammond.
He is survived by his sons, Willard Hammond (Sheila), Leslie Hammond, Richard Duke Hammond (Lynn); and two grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Beale Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, March 17th, 2023 from 4-8:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
