Wilma Jane Goeke

February 4, 1931 — November 2, 2025

Mrs. Wilma Jane Goeke (Goedecke), age 94, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Gloucester Courthouse, Virginia.

Born on February 4, 1931, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, Wilma lived a long and fulfilling life centered around family and the home she loved. Raised on dairy farms all over the northern United States she met the love of her life, Theodore D. “Ted” Goeke, in New Jersey. They married in 1951 and shortly thereafter moved and started their new life in Virginia. After many years in the Richmond area, in 1973 she and Ted moved to the river and built their cherished little home on Mill Creek off the Rappahannock River—a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life, and where she lived until the end.

Wilma was a devoted wife to Ted and took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. Cherished memories of her live on through her son, Alan Goeke, and his wife, Lynn; granddaughters Meg and Bridget Goeke; daughter-in-law Mary Goeke and granddaughter Elaine “Elle” Goeke; grandson Neal Goeke; brother-in-law Noel Goeke; as well as sister-in-law Nancy Goedecke. Her memory will be cherished by them all.

Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted; her son James A. Goeke; her grandson James T. “Jamie” Goeke; her parents Arthur and Rosa Goedecke; her brothers Jerome “Jerry” Goedecke and Louis Goedecke; and sister Helen (Goedecke) O’Sullivan.

Wilma will rest with her loving husband Ted at Quantico National Cemetery. There is no service. In honor of Wilma’s memory, a donation to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation www.cbf.org or to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
